Welcome!

Welcome to Episode 1 of the Cars and Computers Podcast

My Story

I  have been in the automotive service business all my life.
18 years as owner/operator of an independent Honda shop – Triad Auto Specialty
6 years as an independent trainer
6 years – full time automotive instructor @ Guilford Technical Community College (GTCC) in Jamestown NC.

I think this is the third podcast I started.
I unfortunately “Podfaded” on the other two

  • A Podcast about Honda service
  • Automotive Educator’s Podcast

They say “the third time is the charmer” So I plan on keeping this podcast going.

How Do I Physically Produce The Show?

  • Sennheiser HMD 25 headset  – Uses a professional microphone plug (XLR)
  • Microphone’s analog signal is input into a Mackie 802-VLZ3 mixer
  • Analog comes out of the Mackie mixer to either:
    • The computer’s audio in port and is recorded using Audacity (open source software) or
    • A Marantz PMD-661 Digital recorder which is mainly used to record Skype conversations. I can also plug my Sennheiser headset directly into this recorder and go mobile, since this unit will run about 4-hours on 4 AAA batteries. and supports an XLR microphone input.
