Terms of Service

To use any of the services provided by the Digital Literacy Project (DLP) website you must agree to the conditions of this Terms of Service (TOS) Agreement. If you do not agree with the conditions outlined in this TOS Agreement, do not register with the DLP site or use any services of the DLP site.

DLP reserves the right to modify this document, as needed, at any point in the future. The current, and prevailing, TOS Agreement can be reviewed at any time from the “About DLP” menu on the DLP website. It is your responsibility to review this document, on a regular basis, to be aware of any changes made to the TOS Agreement.

Site Overview
DLP is a website that supports and promotes the open exchange of information about the use of digital technology within the automotive service industry. Many of the services of the site are offered at no cost; however, the DLP does offer publications and other products and services for a fee.

eCommerce Information
When commerce is conducted on the DLP website, DLP will contract with a third party to handle the transaction. At no point will DLP have access to a user’s credit card or banking information.

Private Information & Administration eMail
For a user to register with the DLP website, the only information required is a user name, and a valid email address. This information is kept private and will not be given or sold to any outside organization.

When a user registers with the DLP website, their email address is added to the DLP administrative mailing list by default. The DLP Administrator will email out no more than one mailing per month to inform registered users of additional site features and site news. You may opt-out of any mailings.

Multiple Registrations Not Allowed
Each registered user must have a unique email address (DLP users cannot share an email address) and a user may only register with DLP one time. When a user registers with a site more than once, it is typically an attempt to present themselves to the registration system as a new user to take advantage of trial offers or to circumvent being banned by the site administrator.

Content Contributions
Users that have registered with DLP can post information in some areas of the site. Content provided by a registered user must be offered as royalty free. Therefore only contribute material that you own, or you know for a fact is royalty free.

Content placed in any area of the DLP website must not be unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, libelous, an invasive of another person’s privacy, hateful, or racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable.

Copyrighted Content
The premium content available on the DLP website (such as publications, online courses, etc) is protected by copyright laws. You may not reproduce or resale any of this material in any way without the written consent of the DLP Administrator.

Creative Commons Content
The content located on the public part of the DLP website is protected by a Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 United States License. With this content you may share, copy, distribute, display, perform the work and make derivative works for non-commercial use; however, you must attribute the work to the DLP website.

Soliciting
Users may not promote themselves, or their products, on the DLP website without express written consent of the DLP Administrator. Also, a reference to a specific commercial product, or service within the DLP website, does not constitute or imply its’ endorsement and/or recommendation by DLP.

Limits of Liability
All the information made available on the DLP site is presented “as is” and you agree that you use this information at your own risk. As a condition of this TOS Agreement, you agree that you will not hold DLP or any of its officers, owners, or investors liable for any consequences you incur from using any information or services provided by the DLP website.

Termination
You agree that the DLP Administrator, at his sole discretion, may change your status from “Registered” to “Guest” or even ban your ISP IP address from the DLP website, for any reason, including the belief that you have violated or acted inconsistently with the conditions of the TOS Agreement.
